Prelates tell the president to remove objectionable provisions from the anti-terrorism bill.

The prelates of all three chapters have informed the president to remove all inappropriate provisions from the draft anti-terrorism bill. They have requested that the president enact it after broad social consultations with the help of experts in the field. Opposition party leaders headed by Professor G.L. Peris met with the mahanayakes in Kandy today to express their reservations about the draft bill and to inform the prelates of the implications of the bill if enacted without necessary amendments.
