Podi Lassi, further remanded.

Underworld figure Janith Madushanka alias ‘Podi Lassi’ was further remanded till January 18 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court. Podi Lassie was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika C. Ragala by Criminal Investigations Department for alleged involvement in drug trafficking and offences relating to firearms. The CID told the Magistrate that they were yet to conclude investigations against the suspect and thereby moved the Court for a remand order. Podi Lassie was detained at Boossa Prison and produced before the Court after the expiration of his detention order. Podi Lassi is a suspect in a case filed against him over the death threats made in public at the Boossa Prison against the President, the Defence Secretary and certain high-ranking officers of the Prisons Department.
