Government announces bonanza for public servants, farmers etc.

  The government has announced a bonanza for public servants, pensioners, farmers and Samurdhi recipients. Accordingly, all public servants will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 5000 from this month. All pensioners will also receive an allowance of Rs 5000 for one year. Samurdhi recipients will receive an additional allowance of Rs 1000 in line with the increments granted to the public servants. Meanwhile, all disabled soldiers will also receive a monthly payment of Rs 5000. The government has also decided to exempt food items and medicinal drugs from all taxes. It will help reduce food prices and prices of medicines. In another move, the government has also decided to increase the floor price for one kilogram of paddy to Rs 75. Home gardeners will also get a fillip since the government has decided to grant an allowance of Rs 5000 to each home garden in the extent of 20 perches and Rs 10,000 for a home garden less than one acre but exceeds  20 perches. Every household in the plantation sector also will receive a wheat flour bag of 20 kilograms monthly priced at Rs 80 per kilogram.
