AG Dept. to file lawsuit before Singaporean court on X-Press Pearl damages

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Attorney General's Department says that it will file a lawsuit tomorrow before a Singaporean court demanding compensation for the environmental damage caused by the X-Press Pearl ship's accident. Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam told Newsfirst that the matter has been entrusted to a law firm in Singapore. It was also mentioned that this was done under the approval of the Cabinet of Sri Lanka. The Attorney General further says that the court will be later informed regarding the amount of compensation. He added that a detailed report has been called in this regard from the Maritime Environment Protection Authority.
