Rishard’s wife and father-in law in custody over domestic helper’s death

The wife and father-in-law of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and another were taken into custody in connection with the death of a 16-year old domestic helper at the former minister's residence, according to Police. The wife of the Minister, 46-year old Sheyabdeen Ayesha, her father 70-year-old Mohammed Sheyabdeen and the broker who brought the girl was taken into Police custody. The domestic helper, a resident of DayagamaEstate, in Talawakelle was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital on July 3 with burn injuries and died on July 15. Police have also arrested the 44-year old brother-in-law of the former minister for allegedly sexually abusing a 22year old girl, also from the Dayagama Estate.
