President Sirisena seeks ten years to pay the fine in equal instalments.

In a motion before the Supreme Court, former President Maithripala Sirisena has sought further time to pay the remaining sum of Rs. 85 million as compensation to the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.

The motion filed on behalf of former President Sirisena stated that he has already paid a total sum of Rs.15 million to the Office for Reparations as per the judgement delivered by the Supreme Court dated January 12, 2022.
