A new department for the development of Cinnamon

The Cabinet has decided to establish a new department for the development of Cinnamon.

In a memorandum, President Ranil Wickremesinghe sought cabinet approval for the establishment of this department. the Minister of Information said.

He was speaking at the weekly cabinet media briefing held yesterday at the Government Information Department.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers granted their approval to the resolution jointly furnished by the President and the Minister of Plantation Industries to establish a new Department named the Department of Cinnamon Development for rendering facilities for the producers, suppliers, and exporters for activities such as producing and exporting cinnamon, enhancing the quality of cinnamon products, value addition, and diversification of products.
