Local poultry producers agree to reduce prices

Local poultry producers today agreed to reduce the price of a kilogramme of local chicken meat by Rs. 100 following a discussion with Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera. They said that their main aim is to protect the local poultry production industry while ensuring affordable prices for consumers. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the government has emphasised the need to protect the industry as domestic poultry production has reached the level of self-sufficiency in the country.
