US Congresswoman meets Deputy Speaker at Parliament

U.S. Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan recently paid a courtesy call on Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih at Parliament, where the two sides discussed a range of issues of mutual interest.

According to Parliament, discussions focused on the prevailing security situation in Sri Lanka, efforts to combat the drug menace and rehabilitation programmes.

During the meeting, Deputy Speaker Dr. Salih expressed appreciation for the continued assistance extended by the United States, particularly the recent technical support provided to the Sri Lankan Parliament through the U.S. House Democracy Partnership Program.

Acting Secretary-General of Parliament Hansa Abeyratne and officials of the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka also attended the meeting.
