A man found guilty of trying to kill his wife by stabbing was sentenced to 13 years in jail

A man who was found guilty of trying to kill his wife by stabbing her five years ago in Weeravila was sentenced to 13 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 by the Hambantota High Court today.

The man tried to kill the wife by stabbing her with a knife in front of the police officers who had come to resolve the dispute at his house in Weerawila. His wife is a Grama Niladhari of Sandungama, Thissamaharamaya.

The wife of the accused, who was seriously injured by the stabbing, was admitted to Hambanthota General Hospital for treatment.
